see also Licensing information. IntroductionSunflower Images is a boutique stock library emphasizing on-line viewing and sales on a no-royalty basis. We do not publish hard copy catalogues. We do not have a shop front with a counter. We do offer CD sales. We are starting with an eclectic mix of images with subject matter from around the world but we are based in Wellington, New Zealand and as we start up many of our images will reflect our Wellington environment. We cater for both the web designer and the hardcopy print specialists. This means we are recording everyday images that the web page creator may use in great numbers.
We plan to emphasize particular subject areas as the demand and supply issues get sorted. Let us know what images/subject areas you want and we will try to get them for you. We are also interested in hearing from photographers who believe they may be able to add value to our library from the customer's point of view – let us know (initially by email) what you have available.
We have two classifications of images: stock and signature. Signature images are those that the photographer has worked just that bit harder to get, or has been lucky in being in the right place at the right time. Stock images includes those that could be rephotographed by someone else, but we happen to have them and are happy to offer them at a special price.
Image Sizes We provide images in a range of file sizes and price accordingly.
For the convenience of description and web page layout image sizes are given in a short hand: 150k, 500k, 5Mb, 10Mb, 25Mb. The majority of the images are scanned at a maximum of 2700 spi from 35 mm film to approximately the following dimensions:
Not all images are scanned to these standard dimensions. Some are panoramic or square, but these have been scaled to fit more or less into the above guidelines for file sizes. Files are available on-line as compressed JPEGs, and their sizes may vary considerably from that stated, which is intended as a guide only. Images are only lightly compressed, so as to be visually indistinguishable from the originals, but easier to download and store. These file sizes provide the user with complete control over the final use in terms of image size and resolution. For example the 500Kb file will provide an image of approximately 7" x 4.7" at 72 dpi while a 25Mb file will provide a 12" x 8" image at 300 dpi.
To Register, complete the New User Registration form and click on Submit Registration when you have filled in all required fields. You will be asked to read and agree to our licence. We strongly recommend that you write down your user name and password to avoid delays in the future. Unregistered viewers have full access to the small watermarked images and search facilities. Registration is free and does not commit you to purchase images. It does enable you to view larger images from the library.

The quoted prices are exclusive of the GST payable on transactions within New Zealand. NZ residents will need to pay an extra 12.5%.
Images can be supplied on CD, and most can be supplied in a variety of file formats. Generally this service will attract a surcharge of $10 per CD (including package and postage) plus $15 per image. Please enquire for a definite quote.
No credit card information is sent to or held on our site. If you do not wish to purchase using your credit card online we will consider an application for a monthly credit account. We ask for business referees' names and addresses with whom you have existing credit and whom we can contact to obtain a reference. If you wish to be considered for a monthly credit account click here now to complete an application form. Please note that approval may take some days, dependent upon us receiving satisfactory credit references from your referees. No purchases can be made on such an account until approved by us. We want our image bank to be relevant to your work. If we haven’t got the image you want we will try and get it. Let us know by email what it is you are after and we will reply promptly on our ability to get if for you.
